Grandma Delange's Sugar Cookies

1 cup shortening
2 cups sour or sweet cream
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
2 level tsp soda
2 tbsp vanilla
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
flour for a dough to roll

cream shortening and sugar, beat in eggs. Add cream and dry ingredients alternately. Add enough flour to make a dough that can be rolled. Sprinkle with sugar and cut in rounds or other shapes and bake.
