Bread Pudding

20 oz heavy bread, cut in cubes
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 3/4 cups half and half
1 square melted margarine
1/2 cup caramel sauce

caramel sauce
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 cup maple syrup
1 1/3 cup cream

Make caramel sauce by melting butter and adding sugars and syrup. cook over medium heat until ingredients liquefy. remove from heat and stir in cream. Beat eggs, sugar, half and half and margarine together in a large bowl. stir in bread cubes until well moistened. spread in a greased 9x13 pan and spread 1/2 cup caramel sauce over the top. bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. serve warm with caramel sauce and whipped cream.
